REVIEW:

Having just used astrokerb for the first time we tried it in a field were we have a poppy & broadleaf weed problem and it looks to have controlled majority of the problems. Haven't sprayed any rape that had any blackgrass as we normally use kerb flo which works well generally well for us. The packaging is good and reasonably easy to clean, the chemical itself is easy to mix and dilute, overall a good product and chances are we will use it again.

Introducing the new dual-action ASTROkerb – as comprehensive on blackgrass as our Kerb Flo 500 but now with the addition of aminopyralid, ASTROkerb provides both residual and contact activity in the fight against difficult to control weeds in your winter oilseed rape crops. Previously code named GF-2540, this exciting innovation from Dow AgroSciences contains 500 g/L propyzamide and 5.3 g/L aminopyralid providing the broadest spectrum, post-emergence weed control of any oilseed rape herbicide on the market today.

When it comes to the control of grassweeds in winter oilseed rape, Kerb Flo is the market benchmark and remains a very powerful weapon in the agronomist’s armoury as there are still no reports of blackgrass showing any signs of resistance to Kerb Flo. ASTROkerb’s dual-action formulation does not compromise efficacy on blackgrass, and when used as part of a programme which uses a metazachlor based pre-emergence product, it facilitates the suppression and controls a wide spectrum of troublesome, broad-leaved weeds such as poppies and mayweeds.

This well anticipated product fills an important gap in post-emergence weed control and promises to deliver exciting results for you in the 2013/14 growing year, with added weed control benefits across the rotation.

Dow AgroSciences has launched AstroKerb^®, a tailored formulation of propyzamide the outstanding answer to controlling blackgrass and other grass weeds in oilseed rape, together with aminopyralid to extend its control of key broad-leaved weeds.

“For decades, the name Kerb^® has been associated with effective control of pernicious grass weeds such as blackgrass in the rotation, even where resistance has built up to standard herbicides used in cereal crops,” says Dow AgroSciences’ David Roberts. “AstroKerb delivers this same performance, but the addition of a small amount of aminopyralid will enhance performance against certain broad leaved weeds such as mayweed, poppy and thistle.”

AstroKerb contains 500 gai/l propyzamide and 5.3 gai/l aminopyralid. Applied, before 1 February, at the 1.7L/ha rate the new product will deliver the same level of propyzamide as Kerb Flo 500 – the proven rate for effective blackgrass control. AstroKerb can also be used in a programme with a specific graminicide applied earlier in the growing season.

AstroKerb is supplied as a soluble concentrate (SC) formulation in 10L packaging which has been developed by Dow AgroSciences to remove the need for foil seals and their inherent challenge of disposal.

“AstroKerb has been seen at demonstration trials around the UK, under the code name GF2540 for the past three years,” says Mr Roberts. “Its performance has been consistent with that of Kerb Flo 500, with added benefits.
