Breeder Agronomy Notes
Minstrel x Westminster
Belgravia is a spring malting barley with a high yield potential, medium length straw and very good all-round disease resistance. It has a high Hot Water Extract (HWE) and is particularly suited to distilling, being a non Glycosidic Nitrile (GN) producer. Belgravia is the only variety on the 2013 HGCA Recommended List which us fully approved for malt and grain distilling by the Institute of Brewing and Distilling (IBD).
Belgravia has medium length straw combined with good lodging and brackling resistance. Belgravia has excellent resistance to mildew and Rhynchosporium and good resistance to brown rust. In Scottish trials Belgravia has shown very good resistance to Ramularia and excellent green leaf retention.
