Canyon is a very high yielding, ‘yellow’ hulled, spring oat with excellent mildew resistance. It is early maturing, with good resistance to lodging and produces a grain sample with good specific weight.
For normal spring sowing use best local practice. Canyon does not possess sufficient winter hardiness to guarantee successful autumn drilling.
Aim to establish 250-300 plants/sq m depending on lodging risk. Adjust seed rate according to TGW and likely establishment.
Assuming the disease pressure of any individual situation has been fully assessed, Canyon’s mildew resistance may allow reduced levels of fungicide input to be applied.
