Breeder Agronomy Notes

Husky is a ‘white’ hulled spring oat which produces a grain sample with a high kernel content and very good specific weight. Early maturity means Husky is ideal where timeliness of harvest can be critical.
For normal spring drilling use best local practice. Husky is sufficiently winter hardy to allow successful late autumn drilling in all except the most exposed sites or severest weather conditions.
Aim to achieve 250-300 plants/m sq. Rates may need to be lowered in very lodging prone situations. Adjust seed rate according to likely establishment and TGW.
Husky is likely to benefit from fungicide applications aimed at Mildew and Crown Rust control, if pressure from these diseases is high. It produces excellent grain quality.
