REVIEW:
This barley, whilst not excelling in any area is a very consistent all rounder. It is grown specifically for the Pearling market and it has never been rejected.
It can yield up with the best of feed varieties and produces a bright, bold sample with sp. weights between 64 and 70.
Disease resistance is generally good, with rhyncho. being the main problem, but easily controlled. It survives well through the winter, but very cold east winds in March 2013 resulted in severe tiller loss. Even in fertile sites it will stand well and does not 'brackle' or lose ears in a strong wind. Depending on the year awn removal can be a problem at harvest, but this seems to be quite common with current varieties.
It is early; providing the chance of a stale seedbed before OSR or good entry for fodder rape.
