WHAT THE BREEDER SAYS:-
Scout has exceptionally stiff straw and shows superb lodging resistance.
Scout is best suited to drilling from September until the end of January. It has all of the attributes to be suitable for early drilling; slow to GS31 from an early September sowing (Scout +4, Claire +6, Invicta 0), stiff straw, excellent disease resistance and high specific weight.
Scout is known to be a shy tillering variety and as such would benefit from an increase of 25 seeds/m2 above the normal sowing rate to increase its yield potential.
Despite its very stiff straw, a routine application of PGR would be recommended with Scout at GS31.
